Thinner, Lighter Lenses

High index lenses are lighter in weight and thinner than regular glass or plastic materials.  These premium lenses are denser than standard lens materials and thus able to bend light more efficiently.  They are available in both plastic and glass.  High index plastic lenses have indices of refraction ranging from 1.52 to 1.74.  The higher the index of refraction, the thinner the lens will be.  A drawback to high index lenses is they reflect more light.  An anti-reflective coating is recommended for all high index materials.

Transitions Lenses automatically adjust to changing light to provide 100% UV protection and glare reduction.  They're fast to activate and fast to fade back.  They're available in nearly every lens design and material, including shatter-resistant polycarbonate lenses, bifocals, trifocals, progressives and high index lenses.
